A new Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub (JOSH) set up under the aegis of the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) opened recently in SEEPZ, Mumbai. JOSH was inaugurated by Shyam Jagannathan, Zonal DC-SEEPZ-SEZ and C P S Chauhan, Jt DC-SEEPZ SEZ in the presence of a number of senior representatives of industry stake holders.

Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF) is one of the bodies that came forward to support the establishment of this centre which will provide necessary training to candidates seeking employment in the industry.

GJSCI comes under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) that currently functions under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

The first course at the centre will train a batch of 25 in setting, filing and polishing. The selected trainees will receive a monthly stipend during their 3-month course.

Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI said, “GJSCI will assist successful candidates in getting jobs in a suitable location.”
