In mid-July, when different parts of the country received very heavy rainfall, GJNRF responded to requests for support received from local NGOs in Valsad district, Gujarat.
The Valsad relief work was carried out by Samast Mahajan, a well-established NGO with a network in the area, with support from GJNRF. Immediately after the disruption and damage caused by floods following the heavy rain, the two organisations provided food to about 4,000 persons in the villages of Bodeli, distributed through mobile vans. Simultaneously, the organisations also distributed ration kits to about 1,000 of the most affected families in the area.
