The Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF) has extended financial support to nearly 150 school going children of diamond artisans in Surat, Gujarat. The support, in the form of direct bank transfers of Rs 5,000 helped the families to clear pending school fees of their wards.
The slowdown in the diamond industry over the last few months has made it difficult for many artisan’s families to pay for their children’s education. The Diamond Worker’s Union of Gujarat had approached GJNRF seeking financial support.
